Well we certainly didn't lie when we said our newsletter would be infrequent as not to bother anyone, yes it has been - 17 months since our last one!
A huge thank you to our fantastic clients over the last year, we have had a huge diversity of great video projects. We have had productions ranging from the new Fiona Stanley Hospital, a BioDieasel production in the Pilbara, WA's leading innovators and an array of videos for passionate small and medium business owners, just to name a few. That is what we truly love about working in the video industry, the diversity of productions.
We will be updating our blog much more frequently; so keep up to date with our recent projects and we will be giving you some great video tips along the way.
The quality of our branding, including our logo and webstie has long been, well...not reflective of the quality of our work. So over the last year we have been slowly re-branding and our new website should be live in a matter of days!
Let us know what you think, we would love the feedback.
Inventor's deviously complex machine promises to 'stop cats forever'
Craig Turner's simple water-squirting machine failed to stop neighborhood felines peeing all over his stuff. So the Australian amateur inventor resolved to build a machine so terrifying it would permanently scare the cats away. After his first gizmo, a "motion-activated explosive wheel of terror" , failed dismally, he stepped up his one-man war on cats with a fiendishly complicated, explosively destructive contraption guaranteed to scare away cats, birds, visiting sisters and probably even SWAT teams.
It was a lot of fun filming and editing this one, oh and do note that no cats were harmed...just a little scared. Watch the full video here
Why do they work? - Because people buy from people not a business
You may know your company is the best in the business but when it comes to your online presence there is a good chance that in the eyes of your potential customers you are one of many floating in a sea of.... "average". Despite a great effort to differentiate your services, most of what you write on your website, the quality of the pictures you use, the packages you design can all be imitated by competitors (well at least as far as one would notice during a quick visit to your website).
However with the use of a professionally produced; interview based promotional video, you can demonstrate why your company is best for the job in a way that is beyond replication by others.
It connects instantly with the viewer at an emotional level, building trust while sticking in the forefront of their mind.
How is it done?
You don't have to be a professional actor, you and your team just have to be passionate about your business. We will ask the right questions but you will tell the story leaving the viewer with a sense of familiarity that can't be created with text on your website.
Check out the following two interview based videos we produced for Perth based companies:
If you are interested in doing something similar for your business, please get in touch.
You know the saying that "the mechanic's car is always broken"? Well the same applies to us with our own personal videos, we just never get around to editing them! Poor (not so little) Nate was born over 2 years ago and we have just finished his birth video.
We decided to go with a bit more of a mix between a documentary style edit and a cinematic montage. We just felt that this way you get to know what we were going through at each part of the labour process. It was fun to put together and remember such a special moment. Don't worry it is non-graphic.
We were contacted by the producers of the Underbelly TV series last year who were considering using some of the raw footage of both Jasmine and Nate's Birth video for shots in the final birth scene.
Apparently they liked the footage we captured and it is very difficult to replicate an umbilical cord still attached to a newborn baby covered with birth gunk....don't know what they were complaining about... Anyway they didn't end up using the footage unfortunately, but it was very nice to be recognised and complimented for our work.
I am doing the half marathon for this years City to Surf in Perth. That's 21.1km! I have never run that far before and I'm hoping that YOU will sponser me to do the run.
What is CJD? 8 people in my family have died from this disease and my mum has tested positive for the CJD gene mutation. Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is a rare and fatal degenerative brain disease of the central nervous system. There is no treatment, there is no cure.
So I have been running for about 9 months now and I can officially say that I am addicted. The amazing places you get to see, the feeling of freedom, the camaraderie from other competitors, just trying to better myself. I love it! So as you can see there is no better reason for me to do this.
