Mandurah’s Crab Festival

Thursday, May 30th, 2019

Ever been to a crab festival? Mandurah WA holds one every year across 3 days, called Crab Fest.

Fresh Oysters!
Live music in the beer garden

It includes music, food, fireworks and carnival rides. It is just great day out for the whole family.
We were hired by the City of Mandurah to produce a 60 second video of the massive event.

Craig filming the crowd’s reaction to Montaigne

It was a full on day for Craig and myself, working for 12 hours on our feet with a quick 15 minute lunch break thrown in the middle between events! Lots of fun though and we were thrilled to be part of it. Especially being able to see the amazing Montaigne perform.

How To Make A Cat Repellent Automatic Sprinkler

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Craig has released a new video on his “how to” youtube channel, Turnah81 and with it an ebook. That’s right, Craig is now a published author!
So the video and book is simple instructions on how to make your own automatic sprinkler animal repellent for only $15 in parts.

Commercial versions of this concept can be really expensive- ranging from $80 to $190! Which is partly what inspired Craig to come up with this design.

This simple project can be used:

  • As a Cat or Dog Repellent
  • Animal Deterrent for other backyard pest like Squirrels, Bears, Possums, Raccoons & Deer
  • Use it to stop a pet dog digging in your yard
  • To stop ducks sitting on your pool
  • Prevent birds from killing fish in a pond
  • Keep birds off a window ledge
  • Prank friends or family
  • or even as a fun & educational school science project.

Best drone of 2018 – Homemade “Cooler Drone”

Wednesday, December 12th, 2018

So Craig is up to his inventions again! This time it is a DIY Drone Cooler, a flying Esky!

This is a tongue in cheek video so unfortunately it cannot carry a whole carton of beer and there isn’t really a cooler drone app, but the rest is actually real and it really does fly (I have flown it myself!).

This video has been 6 months in the making. The filming was an huge undertaking shot entirely with just 2 crew (apart from some “Extras” for scenes) – and often only 1 person. We shot it completely out of sight from the public- to keep it under wraps until we could complete the whole video. This meant some tricky locations had to be used. The drone build took about 4 weeks alone, literally Craig’s whole summer break – and then some. We aren’t sure if this is an invention, an artwork or a short film. I guess it is kind of all three? Yes Craig really did throw the bottle(s) at me but I’m kind of used to him doing that now, I feel like it is part of the filming process! Make sure you check out the blooper reel, pretty funny stuff!

It was built using DJI parts, mostly the DJI Phantom 3. More information and build pictures on Craig’s blog

and you can also watch the build video here.

So we were lucky enough that this short film was a finalist for Australia’s Funniest Shorts for 2017. It was awesome to hear live reactions from the public.

Goliath Fitness Is Not Your Average Gym

Wednesday, November 21st, 2018

Testimonial driven videos are such a great way to get your message across without the hard sell. Explain what you do through your interview, then let the client sing your praises in their own words. Remember people connect with people rather than a faceless voice over. Be honest and real and the audience will connect.

Goliath was a great business to work with as they trusted us completely. We suggested they put forth a main promotional video and then 2 or 3 subsequent videos that explained certain parts of their gym that they wanted to promote. This way they ended up with a short, sharp entertaining promotional video that didn’t drag on for 20 minutes explaining everything that didn’t appeal to the general audience. They loved the idea, so we ended up with a main promo video, a mums and bubs targeted video, a video about training and physio and lastly a video targeted around their GoFit Hiit program.

Wake up your audience by livening up your training videos!

Monday, May 18th, 2015

Training videos can traditionally be tedious and boring with a monotone voice over that will put you to sleep within minutes. A great way to liven things up is to replace this outdated video style with a role play. It is the same message but delivered with professional actors in a scripted scene. It is an easier format for viewers to retain information and they can see what they are being taught in relevant examples.

In these two video one scenario is played out in two different ways so the viewer can see the difference between doing something the correct way and the incorrect way and how a customer reacts because of this.

The Tourism Council of WA hired us to create these videos in order to train customer service personnel in the tourism industry. “The benefits to the trainers using the videos has been professionalism and the ability to use realistic examples, especially for the visual learners. Feedback from the trainees has been positive” – Julia from the Tourism Council of WA

How we used facebook video to hit 180,000 views for a client!

Saturday, April 25th, 2015

Quickboats wanted a short 30 second promotional video for their Facebook page to promote the main features of their product.

Making the most of facebook’s auto play feature we suggested an upbeat music montage that would capture people in the first few seconds of play.

The Results!…..

Quickboats video views on facebook

Short videos are perfect for social media as they are very shareable.

This video also makes the most of  Facebook video’s autoplay feature as you can still enjoy the clip and watch it all the way through- even with no sound.

With the visual graphics you have absorbed all of the information that the company wanted to convey. They can also use it for trade shows other online video advertising.

By containing compelling high quality visuals, it captures the audience in the first 5 seconds of the video. In order to make a compelling social media video,

-Consider what people will see as they are scrolling in their news feed, when the video auto plays you don’t have long to grab their attention.

-It either has to be a strong, compelling image or a sequence that flows in a logical order and builds curiousity in watching further. Never start with you logo or branding, this is something you should end on after you have the audience’s complete attention.

Contact us today for more information on how to create your own 30 second promotional video.

Building your brand with video

Midland Gate together with Rockingham Shopping Centre created a short video series promoting their Spring Fashion range available in the centres. They did this as a series of “how to” videos on fashion with Blogger Adelle Cousins from Where the Styled Things Are and “how to” make up videos with Professional Make Up Artist Simone Cohen from SC Artistry. By utilising video they were able to increase their social media presence with the appropriate target market and showcase the fashion that is available in an informative an engaging way that keeps the viewers watching until the end.

Check out our latest Showreel!

Friday, January 30th, 2015

It’s so hard to find time to do!

The mechanic’s car is never fixed and our showreel is rarely updated! However I am so happy when we schedule in the time to update it as we have worked on some really fun projects with some really great people. I love our job, I love the people we meet, the stories that we hear, no two jobs are the same. We make some great friends along the way and we love hearing the wonderful feedback about how our video has increased their web traffic and converted more sales. Thank you to all of our past clients and we look forward to all of our new clients for 2015! We hope to hear from you soon 🙂

Out latest showreel was runner up in the 2014 Australian Video Producer’s Association awards.
